Meg's Birthday Brunch with Janet

Actual date of this event: Sunday, November 2, 2008.

Two months overdue, I am finally posting some nice photos from our visit to Janet's house for the annual birthday meal she cooks for Meg (very sweet--yay for Janet!), traditionally some time within the month following Meg's birthday. This year, Janet cooked a yummy brunch. To make the day even better, Cousin Beth was visiting from Seattle, so we got to catch up with her, she with us, and--kazoo drum roll please--she got to meet Ayla.

A brief aside: I not-so-secretly love Janet's charming home in Kensington, up at the top of the Berkeley hills. Her backyard is the never-crowded East Bay favorite hike- or bike-around spot, Tilden Park. (Many meandering trails up and down and out and around the slopes of hills along a slightly curving valley 'twixt the hills 'tween Berkeley and Orinda, both of which are east of San Francisco. It's like a miniature National Park.) It seems to me at least that most everyone who visits the house feels a sense of comfort and peace, and there's always a lot of laughter.

At this year's birthday brunch...

Two beauties talk about the glamorous life.

Hair and hoodies! Cousin Beth tries out the family's newest lap warmer.

Oh, yeah? When's the last time you grooved on some shag carpet?

On the count of three, both of you close your eyes. 1... 2...

Two moms, two daughters, one couch. Leah and Ayla hop into their momma's laps for some 5-star R&R.

Anne wants to get some 5-star R&R herself, and makes a quick move for Momma's lap.

Da...

...dogs.

A little post-meal loungeabout.
